What do I need to get a library card?

In order to get a library card you will need a picture ID.

How old do children have to be to get a library card?

Children must be five years old. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a card.

How much does a library card cost?

The first library card is free. Replacement cards are $2.
Currently our collection is just over 35,000 items including books and audio/visual materials.

Do you have a meeting room?

We have one large meeting room that is available for meetings. It must be reserved, and there is a $10 charge for the use of the room.

Can I renew the items I have checked out?

You may renew items one time. Books and CD books are for an additional three weeks. DVD's are for one additional week. You may renew in person or by phone. 

How long may I keep the library materials?

Books and CD books are checked out for three weeks. Dvd's are checked out for one week.

How many items may I check out?

The first time you use your library card you are limited to two items. After that you may check out up to 25 items on your card. Only two Dvd's and two CD books may be checked out per visit.

Do you offer internet to the public?

We offer internet on six public computers. We also have wireless access.

How much does it cost to use the internet?

Access to our internet and the use of our computers is free. If you choose to print there is a fee of 10 cents per page.

Who can use the internet?

Anyone is free to use our internet. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to use the internet on our computers.

Who Governs the Stone County Library?

The Stone County Library is governed by a five member board. These board members are appointed by the Stone County Judge.

How is the Stone County Library Funded?

The Stone County Library is funded a property tax millage. Miscellaneous revenue is added through donations from the Friends of the Stone County Library, donations from patrons, collected fines and fees for copies.

Does the library have a fax machine for public use?

At this time the library does not provide this service.
